Hi guys The Elmbridge Council has banned people from flying model planes in a butterfly habitat. I’m just wondering why they didn’t do it sooner?! Obviously the Elmbridge Model Club members are sad about this but I don’t get the sport in the first place (yawn!). My brother in law will kill me for saying this . I'm sorry if but I'm sure they can fly everywhere else!!! http://www.getsurrey.co.uk/news/s/205677....ave_butterflies

In all honesty I think this is a great idea! I know some people may not want to hear this but butterflies appear less and less frequently since I was a child and we do need to do what we can to protect them!
Like the article says they will help the people find a new location to fly thier model planes so its not all negative for them is it? There are plenty more places where they can do this! The butterflies have to come out the winners here Im afraid - don't you think so?

I'm glad someone is backing me on this. I feared I might get some "hate" posts on this thread...

Hey Charlene, I agree with Jose as it is important to protect the butterflies. I have noticed that they are becoming less and less common. Does anyone know what this is down to? Have model airplanes been shown to harm the butterflies?? It does sound a bit odd in my opinion...
