Hey Charlene, I agree with Jose as it is important to protect the butterflies. I have noticed that they are becoming less and less common. Does anyone know what this is down to? Have model airplanes been shown to harm the butterflies?? It does sound a bit odd in my opinion...
Surrey jobs go along with patent protection! « Result #5 on Sept 28, 2009, 2:47am »
I was rather shocked to hear that Eli Lilly, a leading drugs manufacturer, is about to undergo some of the most challenging times in its history. I had never heard of the pharmaceutical group until I went on a school trip there for my chemistry A-levels but the company has a lot of history behind it. Did you know that Eli Lilly were the ones who first manufactured penicillin back in the 1940’s??
Apparently the problem comes from president Obama’s healthcare reforms and the loss of many patents. Eli Lilly’s best selling drugs are for schizophrenia, cancer, depression and insulin control, and they are all to lose their patent protection. This means that other pharmaceutical companies are now open to replicate and produce them. Do you think this is going to decrease the price of drugs? If lots of other companies can produce the same drug do you think they are going to become cheaper?
At the moment the company seems to fear the worst and are planning to cut 5500 jobs including Surrey jobs in the Windlesham base. I can see that the loss of patent protection is actually going to have devastating effects of Eli Lilly. However when I think about it, this is great news for other drug manufacturers and if drugs do become cheaper to buy then it would surely benefit the NHS. Do you think it is for the greater good?

Hi Jose Just to let you know, (maybe you can let your friend know about this as well, they seem to focus on younger people with this). Apparently a couple of leadership coaches in Guildford will be giving advice and workshops to improve the unemployed community memebers. The new ONS statistics has shown that 2% of the adult population in Guildford are jobless. Don’t know where your friend’s brother lives but I’m sure they won’t kick anyone out who makes the effort to travel from out of town. The new project is called the Guildford Community Job Club and there aim is to get people from Guildford back into a Surrey job. I’ve noticed that more and more towns are putting together a scheme to improve training and skills and create job opportunities. It makes me think that when the recession is over we will have a great amount of people who are skilled in extra fields and will affect the entire country positively

I think so too. It is so easy to become not only lazy but ill when you find yourself without work and nobody wants to give you a chance. And it's rough out there, I don't think interviews are as stright forward as they use to be - so the better you can improve your CV and skills the more you have to offer a company.

Wow that is good news isn't it?
I mean that is the best way to kill time if you don't have work - brush up your skills or learn something new! At least that way you aren't sitting around the house doing nothing and becoming lazy! it also keeps your mind active for you!
The fact that its free makes it even more attractive I think! I am going to pass this onto a friend who's younger brother has been struggling to find some work for a while since he was made redundant! It will probably do him some good to get into something again!

In all honesty I think this is a great idea! I know some people may not want to hear this but butterflies appear less and less frequently since I was a child and we do need to do what we can to protect them!
Like the article says they will help the people find a new location to fly thier model planes so its not all negative for them is it? There are plenty more places where they can do this! The butterflies have to come out the winners here Im afraid - don't you think so?
